Isaac joined the fraternity of the bike-wrecked today.  It was bound to happen at some point this summer.  He’s not really an adventurous kid; he’s pretty likely to play it safe, not take chances, not risk unless he’s fairly certain that he’s going to come out on top.

He was riding bikes with Annabelle and Josie today, so we’re still not exactly sure how it happened.  But the nearest I can figure based on the translation and stellar eyewitness testimony is that they were cruising down the street, headed for a right turn.  Isaac tried to slow his roll by using the bike’s handbrakes, applied too much pressure to the front brake and went tail-over-teakettle, right over the handlebars.  Good thing the ground was there to break his fall.  He’s got a pretty nice case of road rash on his side and both elbows look like you’d expect them to look.

He was a little worried about taking a shower tonight.  Apparently someone in China told him not to shower after scraping a knee/elbow.  But he let me know that he survived and that it only was “a little ow” in the shower.

Oh well, I’ve heard it said that the things that don’t kill you make you stronger.  I guess that’s good, but how do you know it’s going to do the latter, not the former?

It’s like I always say, “If you’re not going over the handlebars, you’re not trying hard enough”. Well done, Isaac!

Been there, done that, got the shirt… When I use to race bicycles, that was a normal day at work… But remember never, never let anyone clean the road rash with rubbing alcohol… there is no “little ow” that follows that treatment!!
