We’ve got adoption stuff all over the place, and it’s not all contained in Casa de Sublett. I’ve got a letter of reference for a dear couple in our church, some friends in VA waiting to hear about a custody case involving their foster children, several others in our church in various stages of waiting to go or just got back…
and I think it’s spilling over onto the college students.
This was waiting for me when I got to my office this morning:
No name, just a story. Whoever it is actually returned a just-purchased coat so that he/she could partner with Team Sublett! That cash is going to buy new clothes for Isaac next week–maybe even a winter coat!
I am blown away. This has been a remarkable last few weeks. With all the paperwork being processed, visas and passports being approved, and the incredible generosity of people…it’s been amazing to watch God at work. I can’t tell you how many people have given to help us bring Isaac home. Simply amazing.
I don’t believe that everyone is called to adopt children. I do believe that many more people should, even if it means sacrificing some of their comforts and desires. But everyone is called to take care of orphans (and widows). James wrote these words to the church: Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. (James 1:27)
Kim and I are so grateful, so blessed, so humbled at the support and love that we’ve been shown. We can hardly wait to bring Isaac home in a couple of weeks, to have him meet so many friends and family who have been praying–and giving–to help make him part of Team Sublett.
We’re going to need some help with his schooling and language and transition into our life here, so if you’d like to buddy-up with a 14 year old Chinese boy, give me a shout. He looks like he’s going to be fun!

God is so amazing! We can tell similar stories of our recent adoption. Co-workers, friends, family, brothers and sisters in Christ all giving to care for orphans. Even complete strangers…yes on our flight from Alanta to Seattle my husband and I sat by a gentleman who we found out was a pastor returning from a conference. Upon landing in Seattle he hands my husband a handful of cash for our adoption. Our adoption definitely strengthened our faith.
Blessings to you and Kim as you travel to Hohhot, a place near and dear to our hearts. Looking forward to getting our boys together sometime. We will be uplifting you in our prayers daily! Especially October 23…gotcha day!
