Our little town got a couple of new things this week.  Chic-fil-A opened, which meant hundreds of people camping out the night before it opened, hoping to be among the first 100 guests in the door.  In case you haven’t heard, the first 100 people through the doors got rewarded with free grub for a year.  I don’t know if that’s actually true, but that’s the word on the street.  And by the line outside the building, I’m thinking there’s something to that rumor.  Any way you slice it, our town just got a little better.

In other news, the Sublett family grew this week, too.  It’s a long story, and I promise to fill you in on the details.  But for now, let me simply introduce our new 13 year old daughter, Josie!  She’s from Shanghai by way of North Carolina, and she’s fitting right in to Team Sublett.  Here are a few pics from her first week with us.

She’s very different from Annabelle, to say the least.  She’s loud and spunky, a little messy, and stomps through the house like an elephant!  She laughs and pokes and plays and loves…she’s one of us.  And her smile lights up her face!  She’s making Annabelle re-learn Mandarin, and even teaching the others a few phrases along the way.  She loved XStream Wednesday night, and can’t wait to start school.

We went to the courthouse today to get the judges’ signature to make us her official guardians while we file for adoption.  This afternoon Kim got her enrolled in school.  She’ll be in 7th grade, just like Lilly.  We’re hoping that they can be in the same class, since that’s been such a good experience for Annabelle and Sadie.  Her school doesn’t have an ESL teacher (not yet, anyway) so she may have to spend some time at the other middle school in town.

We are absolutely thrilled to have her as part of our family.  I’ll share more of her story in the days to come.  If you see us at Calvary Sunday, come say hello.  And if you speak Mandarin and would like to join our team to help her transition, please let me know.  We’re in awe of how God orchestrated this…

Chic-fil-A is good, no doubt about it.  But I think we came out ahead on this on, don’t you?
