I love my lifegroup.  It’s one of the best parts of my week.  It’s a bigger-than-most lifegroup, made of diverse and wonderful people.  Some folks don’t come every week; others never miss.  Some love the food and friendships; others can’t wait to dive into the Bible.  Some pray every time there’s an opportunity, while others never pray out loud.  We’ve got Penn State students and newlyweds and not-yet-weds and oldlyweds and empty-nesters and folks with babies and every other family situation you can imagine.  We laugh a lot, serve together, worship together, play together…

I love my lifegroup, and I think you would too.  That’s why I invite loads of people to join us. It might be more dangerous than you think, though, so you need to be forewarned.

We’ve seen bears on the property.  I took a great picture of a black snake a couple of weeks ago.  We meet at the property our church owns in Boalsburg, PA, which might be the nicest piece of property around.  But woods and ponds mean bugs and bees and animals and nature and splinters and allergies and scraped knees and ouchies.

A friend brought his wife and their small children out tonight for the first time.  They are a beautiful family, and the kids were having a blast playing on the porch outside in the evening sun.  Things took a turn for the worse when a daughter took a spill off a swing, landing face-down on the patio.

She was a very brave little girl, but she was in some pain.  There was a little bleeding and some swelling right off the bat.  Of course, they called it a night and headed for home.  I felt terrible…They’re super people, and I know that they’ll survive this, but I hate that it happened.

I suppose there’s a life lesson in there about the danger of stepping out of your door.  At least that’s what Bilbo used to say.  But if you want to be part of the adventure, you’re going to have to take some risks, endure some scrapes and bruises.

I just hope that it doesn’t happen to you at lifegroup.
