but it feels like a long time ago! It certainly doesn’t feel like I was on the beach less than 7 days ago…
We had planned to do a little stay-cation this year, or possibly introduce Team Sublett to the wonders of tent-camping. There are some great State Parks near us, and we are doing everything we can to foster a sense of adventure in our young’ns. But our friends invited us to join them for a week at a house on Ocean Isle, NC. My Mama didn’t raise no fool, so we said yes!
And what a week it was! The weather was just about perfect, with a stiff breeze keeping us cool under the hot July sun. We splashed and played and ate and stayed up late talking. Our friend surprised us by renting a boat for a day. We took turns riding around the island, flying around the island, and getting stuck on a sandbar as the tide went out! I wondered how we would wear on the nerves of the other families–9 Subletts might be a bit much for anyone! But we were all still friends by the end of the week. We had a great time, made some great memories, and deepened our friendships. We are certainly blessed and grateful for the friends God has brought into our life.
