…sitting here tonight reflecting on the day’s events.  I wonder if you wouldn’t mind answering a few questions.  Some are for my information; some are to make you think; some are probably just for fun.  I’m thinking about this becoming a recurring theme, unless nobody answers the questions.

Post your reply in the comments of the ol’ blog and I’ll draw one name Thursday evening to receive a Team Sublett-approved prize!*

1.  What worship song are you digging?  What song are you ready to put out to pasture?

2.  Who encourages you?

3.  If you could change one thing about your appearance, what would it be?  What about your character–same question?

4.  What’s your favorite tv show, and do you watch it live or dvr/hulu/other?

5.  Right now, in this season of life, do you feel stressed or refreshed?

6.  If you got a tattoo what would it say/be?  Where?

OK, that’s it.  Are 6 questions too much?  Oh wait…that’s another question.  And yes, know that I asked multiple questions in the questions.

*prizes may include a Team Sublett sticker, tshirts from various past youth ministry events, and other assorted things that have accumulated over the years.

I’ll play…
1. I love “Revelation Song”. Really dislike Tomlin’s “White Flag.”
2. My hubby.
3. Let’s just say that if the pilates workout I’ve been doing lived up to it’s claim on the DVD cover, I’d be quite excited. (Workout videos lie.) As for character–I’d like to be more motivated, but I’m just not motivated enough to become motivated. It’s really a conundrum.
4. NCIS! I’m such an addict. Watching by DVR and can’t wait for the new season to start.
5. A little of both. I love that I have the freedom to be a stay-at-home mom, but some days that is its own stress. (Can we say “potty training”??)
6. Uhm… I dunno. I’ve always heard the “it’ll look ridiculous when you’re 80” argument against tattoos… so maybe I’d do something that’d be useful for when I’m 80, like tattooing my home address on to my shoulder so people can send the old lady with dementia back where she belongs.

1.) Digging: “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” by Matt Redman. Ready for Pasture: “Shine Jesus Shine” – for some reason it came into my head the other day and was stuck there (I haven’t heard it in years).

2.) My wife Amy.

3.) Appearance: Lose a few pounds. Character: More patience/grace for people I don’t know.

4.) It’s a toss-up between “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Big Bang Theory.” If I can, I’ll watch on TV. Usually I end up watching at CBS.com.

5.) I’d say I’m leaning slightly to the “stressed” side between these two.

6.) The tattoo would be “John 10:10,” on my left arm. When people ask, I’d tell them what the verse says, and tell them about Jesus. If nothing else, they’d be opening a Bible to look it up.

Ginny · September 13, 2012 at 10:06 am

1. Really digging on the new Toby Mac song me without you & I’m totally over the one third day song that’s on ten times a day.

2. My daughter. She’s the light of my past – my rise from these ashes. She makes me want to be a better person everyday. She do simply loved Jesus & people it’s amazing

3. Physically, I’d unbreak my knee when i was 23 so I could run again. Character, I would be more open with my emotions

4. Deadliest catch! I DVR it and I watch old episodes online. Can’t get enough.

5. Right now, refreshed daily. Life is stressful sure but coming from where I used to be oh it’s beautiful every day.

6. Ha! I just did actually. It says “only a moment” to remind me every day how short this life is. Childhood is only a moment. Good things are only a moment we need to cherish them. Bad stuff also, only a moment & it’s gone so stress less live more love completely

stacy · September 13, 2012 at 10:41 am

Sarah, good stuff. And yes, I know that workout videos lie!

Caleb, thanks for your thoughts. Shine Jesus Shine is officially off the list.

Ginny, love it! Rise from the ashes of your past, girl!

1. Digging: David Crowder: You Alone
Put Out to Pasture: Lord I Lift Your Name on High

2. Lots of people…but mostly my close friends. My friend Mandy is one of the biggest encouragers out there.

3. Appearance: At this current point, eliminate acne.
Character: Minimize defensiveness and be more okay with not having things all put together.

4. Tie between the Biggest Loser (Hulu) & Downton Abbey (Netflix)

5. A little on the stressed side with a lot of things going on and a lot of unknowns ahead.

6. I have two tattoos already. One is on the inside of my left wrist, and it says “Isaiah 55”. It’s supposed to be like what I’ve heard of concentration camp “branding”–where people lost their identities and became the number instead. I want my life to prove that Isaiah 55 is true. The other is on both sides of my right ankle. On the inside is an image of a mountain crumbling into the heart of the sea. In the center of the image, there is Hebrew writing that reads “I AM”. On the other side of my ankle is a message, written in my handwriting: “May you find the words to be entirely true…” That tattoo has multiple purposes: 1. a representation Psalm 46, 2. a way of honoring the memory of my brother and 2. a reminder of a God story that I never want to forget. Both tattoos have to do with things about who God is and who I am.

Are 6 questions too much? No. But you might get more responses if you had fewer.

    stacy · September 13, 2012 at 4:37 pm

another Downton Abbey fan…nice. Thanks for playing, M!

Koop · September 13, 2012 at 11:31 am

1. The Good – Big House (the one that’s sampled over MMMBop. Can you tell I spend most of my weekend in the Kidz space?). The Bad – Matchless. The Ugly – A Baby Changes Everything. We’re already getting ready for Christmas.

2. At home, my wife. At work, Dennis the High School Director. On the weekends, the kids. Definitely the kids.

3. I could probably use to lose a few (dozen) pounds. Although I’d be happy if I could just get rid of this gut. And I wish I was a better finisher. I start strong but tend to peter out.

4. BEST: Parks and Rec or New Girl. HONORABLE MENTION: How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Happy Endings, Grimm, Once Upon A Time. BEST FOREIGN SUBMISSION: Dr. Who. RISING STAR: Go On LIFETIME ACHEIVEMENT: Friends, The Office
Most of the time I have to catch the new stuff on demand, but the at almost any time of day How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, The Office, or Friends is on one station or another.

5. I’d say stressed. But in a good way…

6. I’m not sure, but whatever design I choose would be small and somewhere out of the way. I’ve seen one too many stretched out tats that I’m sure seemed like a good idea 25 years ago.

    stacy · September 13, 2012 at 4:38 pm

Koop, what is up my brotha!?!? Thanks for the visual of the stretched out tat.

Sarah Martin · September 13, 2012 at 11:39 am

1. I am really enjoying Forgiveness by Matthew West. I feel like I’m doing something wrong by saying that any worship song should be put out to pasture because a lot their lyrics are full of great truths, but I think I would be okay if I didn’t have to sing “Trading my Sorrows” any longer.
2. My Small Group- We started with a small group of eight couples and have dwindled down to four. But I know these other three couples are exactly who God wants for us. I am encouraged by the vulnerability we have with each other. I have become more vulnerable with this small group much more quickly than some I have been involved with in the past. (Don’t worry the small group I was a part of with you and Kim, holds a special place in my heart and helped grow me into who I am in Christ, today.) There is only one non-military family in our small group and they are so great and willing to learn about the Army lingo and provide great support for us. We are going through the DVD series “The Faith” by Chuck Colson. We have only gotten through the first DVD, but there are already been so much incite in what God is going to teach us. I’m so excited.
3. I know God made me perfectly in his image, but there are still things that I want to work on. Unfortunately my height can’t be changed. Sometimes I wish I was a little bit shorter so I could wear more heals 🙂 I also wish I had some more muscle. I know I could do something about that I just haven’t found the motivation yet, to the shagrin of my husband. I think he has given up on trying to motivate me to work out.
4. Our new favorite show is Duck Dynasty. It’s about the family who owns the Duck Commander company. It is so funny and at the end of every episode it ends with the whole family at the dinner table in prayer. I think you might enjoy it, Stacy. It’s on A&E and the new season starts on October 10.
5. Is it possible to be both. I know God is working and doing things behind the scenes and that gives me peace. But with Matt going away for a month to train and then a potential deployment a few months after that, I’m nervous. I don’t like thinking about him being away for nine months. I know that is much shorter then what deployments used to be, but it is still too long.
6. My idea’s for tattoos change so often. Some days I think I would get a verse other days I think I would get the Jesus Fish. The other day I saw this tattoo. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j6oYpLLEsto/TyxFzxC5GRI/AAAAAAAAAH8/6RsI07w5Co4/s1600/faith.jpg It’s the Jesus Fish with Faith written into the bottum line of the fish. The issue with me and potentially getting a tattoo is I can’t decide where I would get it.

    stacy · September 13, 2012 at 4:39 pm

Hey Sarah, I’ve watched Duck Dynasty. Probably no surprise, right? And I like that faith-fish…

Sarah Martin · September 13, 2012 at 11:42 am

Oh I forgot about the Character question. I would like to be more disciplined in things that I would like to do during my day.

Laurie · September 13, 2012 at 1:14 pm

1. I am LOVING 10, 000 Reasons! Cannot get it out of my head. I’m sort of tired of He Reigns, but agree with Caleb that “Shine, Jesus, Shine is the worst! Though I really dislike to hear Third Day – don’t mind singing their stuff, but their nasally tone makes me want to bash in my radio.

2. Becky Martin really encourages me. She is a woman who walks in the Spirit.

3. I wish my head was bigger. It is tiny and the rest of me isn’t. I wish I was more gracious when annoyed.

4. We love Big Bang Theory and sometimes watch it live, often watch re-runs and occasionally DVR it.

5. In this season of life, I have significant stressors but am finding Jesus nearer and so I am feeling less stressed!

6. I really dislike tattoos, especially on women. I like the idea of just having my name and address on my shoulder in case I get lost when I’m 80, though!! Genius!

    stacy · September 13, 2012 at 4:40 pm

Laurie, I don’t know that I’ve heard of anyone making their head bigger! 🙂 Let me know if you find a home-remedy for that!

Hannah · September 13, 2012 at 3:58 pm

1. All My Fountains (Chris Tomlin)…good reminder of the Source of refreshment. Shout to the Lord (Darlene Zschech)…not excited for this one to be on the playlist.

2. Beth A. 🙂

3. Appearance: lose some extra padding. 🙂 Character: more selfless.

4. Downton Abbey and Once Upon a Time on Hulu!

5. A wee bit stressed…not specific to anything, just generally from lack of contentment.

6. I’m not sure that I will ever get “inked”, but if I were going to, I would probably get a little something leafy or floral on my wrist or ankle.

    stacy · September 13, 2012 at 4:41 pm

Hannah, I could definitely see you with something floral or viney…

Amy · September 13, 2012 at 4:26 pm

1. One thing (Jesus Culture) Can’t think of any to take out.

2. Don’t really have a specific encourager. I find encouragement in whoever I talk with.

3. My football shoulders (make them smaller). Character-a little more merciful.

4. Once Upon A Time (live if we can)

5. Amazingly refreshed. Very busy, but full of life.

6. A tiny heart on my hip.

And no 6 questions is not too many…

    stacy · September 13, 2012 at 4:42 pm

    Thanks for playing Amy!
