A: Two weddings!
Yep, this weekend is chock full o’weddings. In fact, this has been a summer like no other for me officiating weddings. By the time September ends I will have pronounced 7 new couples “man and wife,” including two couples this weekend.
It’s going to be tricky–I have to skadoodle from the first wedding reception to get to the rehearsal for the second wedding. But they’re both in town, so I think it’ll work out ok. I probably shouldn’t ride the scooter, though.
Officiating weddings is one of the more fun aspects of my job as a pastor, especially for weddings (like this weekend) of couples I know fairly well. Weddings are beautiful in their own right, but when you know the couple’s story it brings another level of appreciation to the day.
I’ve seen some pretty goofy things happen at weddings. Have you ever been to a wedding where someone passed out? That’s pretty standard America’s Funniest Videos stuff, right? I’ve seen groomsmen drop like they got sniped, couples fumble over words in their vows, and at one wedding this summer the best man left the rings at home! Fortunately he lived close enough that he could run back home to get them in time…Most weddings have gone off without a hitch, though, much to the delight of the bride. I’m not sure how much the groom is actually aware of on wedding day…
So let’s get some conversation going? What’s your funniest/goofiest wedding story?
