This is not one of those “my kid did something stupid so now I’m going to embarrass her on facebook/youtube” posts.  But Sadie totally responded selfishly tonight.

Levi worked all day (2 jobs, 8am-8:30pm) today, and Kim took everybody else plus 4 friends to Friendship Village to celebrate Lilly’s birthday.  That left me and Sadie hanging at home.  She’s pretty quiet; I guess she gets that from me.  We can both be in our heads for lengths of time, and today was pretty funny to us.  We spent the day doing our own separate things, moving around the house, taking care of business.  About 5:30 she asked what we were doing for supper.  Have no fear, for Mom left instructions.

There was deer meat in the fridge and veggies in the freezer.  I sliced the deer tenderloin thin while Sadie got the veggies ready.  Every spice and shaker thing from the spice rack/cabinet was in play.  I melted butter, tossed in the meat, and doused them puppies with garlic salt, Chinese spicy red stuff, Italian herbs, roasted red peppers, salt and pepper, and a dash of cinnamon.  It turned out delicious!

Sadie and I sat in almost total silence for several minutes.  Eventually I noticed that we weren’t talking, so I tried to make small talk.  Turns out we’re pretty dependent on Kim, Levi, and Lilly to keep things lively around the supper table.

I was going to head over to the ballpark to watch the Spikes (they won in extra innings!), but opted to stay home with Sadie and try to redeem my poor conversation skills.  We pulled out SkipBo while she watched a few episodes of Ever After on Netflix.  I won the first game, then Sadie proceeded to crush me in 3 consecutive games.  Talk about ungrateful…

That’s the last time I fix her my deer meat special.  😉
