While this is less than ideal, it’s time to start getting the word out: I accepted a position as a pastor of a small church in Salem, MA. It’s an old-school, Puritan church, and although this will be a difficult transition for me and my family, we are genuinely excited about the future. Or the past…as in 1692.
I got a role in the State College Community Theatre production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. I’ll be playing Reverend Samuel Parris in this story of the witch trials in Salem. It should be an interesting show! Lots of other Calvary folks are spending part of their summer working with the SCCT, too. Congrats to you, my friends!
On other fronts, Happy Valley enjoyed an unexpected 3-day weekend as we got a few inches of snow today. The weatherologists said the snow would start early in the day, and the school system called about 5:20 to let me know that the kids would be off today. But there was no snow til late in the afternoon. We took full advantage of the day off–pancakes, games, lots of talk-around-the-table time, and a fun snow game that Kim used to play with her Gram!
Cut the Pie: Stomp a big circle in the snow (ours was about 40 feet across) and “slice” the pie into 8 pieces. Everyone stands on the lines cut in the pie. One person is it, trying to tag someone else. You must stay on the pre-cut lines of the pie. You can make up your own rules (no tag-backs, the center of the pie is “safe” for one person at a time, etc). It didn’t take very long before we were all breathing heavily and pretty warm!
How was your snow day?
