Last year on this very night we were parading up and down the hallway of our hotel in Guangzhou, knocking on the doors of our new friends who were adopting babies.  We had our new tweenager all decked out, teaching him the finer points of begging for candy from relative strangers.

There are a couple of pics from last year below, followed by tonight’s adventure…

Tonight Team Sublett took their game to the streets, and this time we included a Baby Penguin.  A little bit of drizzly rain couldn’t dampen our spirits as we walked from house to house.  There were literally no other kids out in our neighborhood, so we made out like bandits.  Levi put his schmoozing skillz to work, chatting up all the neighbors.  They got invited to hang out with a new neighbor (it might be the Asian connection), and he dropped about 20 pounds of candy on them before they left his stoop.

Charlie discovered lollipops tonight.  I’m not sure that’s a good thing…

Kim and I like to make the rounds with the kids.  It’s not that they need us, but it’s a great opportunity to pop into a neighbor’s door, say hello, ask if there’s anything that we can do to help.  We live in a very small neighborhood that is experiencing some turnover as the original settlers are moving into the “assisted care” stage of life.  It’s good for us to touch base with them from time to time, offer help with any household projects, see how they’re getting along.  And they all make a fuss over how big the kids are getting…and how much our family is growing!

We love our neighbors…
