I have no idea where it came from, but my little Sadie is obsessed with the Muppets. Yep, the same Muppets that I watched as a kid. She loves the Muppets. She hauled her mother (and Isaac) into the theater to watch the latest Muppet movie. She downloaded little paper cutouts of Muppets. She just about drove me crazy listening to the soundtrack over and over and over and over…The latest Netflix arrival? You guessed it-the new Muppet movie.
Kim called family movie night during supper, so after everyone got their homework done (Lilly was doing hers during the movie) we all crowded into mom and dad’s bedroom to watch the Muppet movie. I was a little skeptical, but I have to admit that I got drawn into the story. There was the age-old/classic mix of Muppet vaudevillia, Muppet show-tunes, and campy acting; so naturally we loved it! I won’t give the plot away in case you haven’t seen it, but you’d better have some tissues handy. This one made Annabelle cry!
I suppose there are worse things that a little girl could obsess about. I love the fact that my kids still enjoy a night hanging out with mom and dad, that they try to call “dibs” to be near us, that they laugh and love the same old corny jokes that we laughed at when we were young(er). I suppose I owe Kermit a great big thank you for a night well spent.
Now if I can just get Isaac to stop singing “Am I a man, or am I a muppet?”
