Seriously, this kid has some sort of mojo going.  It’s amazing to see.

I was his wing-man for today’s “Countries of the World” presentation.  He, being from Inner Mongolia, China, should have had the inside track to do a report on China, specifically Inner Mongolia, right?  Nope.  He did a report on Mongolia–a totally separate country, though similar.  Oh well, we sent him in today with all his fancy parting gifts from Inner Mongolia and no one knew the difference.

I took some…um, let’s say “unique and interesting” drink from Inner Mongolia.  It looks like Chai tea, but it’s more like salty, warm, creamy/caramelly liquid.  Not too many people were thrilled at their first taste!  But Isaac was delighted to share his drink and his report with his classmates and their parents.

If I had one teacher tell me how wonderful Isaac is, I had half a dozen.  6th grade boys and girls flocked around my son who barely speaks English.  Every time we go to Wal-Mart or the grocery store, people call his name and run up to say hello.

The other day some kids were passing us on their bikes.  One of ’em spotted us and yelled, “Hey Isaac!  How’s it going?”  Isaac waved, and I heard the second young’n say, “who’zat?”  to which the first replied, “That’s Isaac.  He’s pretty much my best friend.”

When he came home from his very first day of school he proudly told us that he made lots of friends.  I figured that it was just a boy thing, that friend really meant some kid my class said hey.  But I think Isaac must have some sort of weird genetic pre-disposition to friends.  He makes new ones everywhere we go, and people genuinely seem to love this kid.

He’s pretty remarkable, and I’m thrilled that he’s my son, mojo and all.
