It’s late, and I should be in bed, but I wanted to drop this on you.

I spent the past weekend in Dallas, TX (don’t be jealous–the only time I left the hotel was to go for a run in drizzly 45 degree weather).  I was there for the 5-year gathering hosted by Baseball Chapel.  I’m the chaplain for the State College Spikes, the short-season A team for the St. Louis Cardinals.  Yep, in case you hadn’t heard, we’re not a Pirates affiliate any longer.  But that’s not the story.

I went to TX thinking that I was going to be hearing about conducting chapel, discipling ballplayers, and ministry to ballpark staff.  That happened, but two other remarkable pieces fell into place over the weekend.

1.  I got to share our adoption stories more than half a dozen times to people who are in various stages of adoption.  The guy I roomed with (what’s up Allen Frans?) rolled his eyes when I showed him my family picture.  God’s been dropping adoption people on him left and right!  Another couple attending the conference helps people fund adoptions.  How cool is that?

2.  There are loads of guys from the DR involved in baseball chapel.  Every major league team has an academy in the DR.  As I passed one group of Spanish-speaking chapel guys  I overheard the Director for the DR saying, “I wish I knew someone heading to the DR soon.  I need to get a box of Bibles into the country.  I could even meet them at the airport.”

Um, excuse me, sir, I couldn’t help but overhear…I’m headed there in a few weeks…

Talk about God working out connections!  If you’re praying for me and my upcoming trip, thank you!  If you want to support me financially, drop me a note.  I still have quite a bit of fundage to raise!
