Leadership/Adventure Trip
Be warned: Danger lurks! Dark caves, treacherous rocks, long stretches of isolated trail, steep hills, rough terrain, the dark of night, the roaring Youghiogheny River…You will carry all you need for this journey on your back, and in your heart. Choose your companions well, for they will be your teammates in this endeavor. God will meet you somewhere along the way. Who is in?
July 24-28 (that’s a Thursday through Monday)
Thursday we climb and cave. We’ll climb at Beam’s Rocks and cave in my old hometown of Derry at Bear Cave. Friday-Sunday we’ll hike the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail to Ohiopyle (about 48 miles!), sleeping in shelters along the trail. Monday we will raft the Lower Yough with guides from the Ohiopyle Trading Post. Once we’re off the river, we’ll get picked up and head for home. As if that weren’t enough, the main purpose of the trip is to develop leaders among our students. This will be a combined trip with students from the CMA church in State College, so Don Jones and some of his guys will be with us. Andy Mylin and I will be leading the adventure portions of the trip. He and I are both Wilderness First Aid certified, so we’ll be as safe as possible! Space for this trip is limited, and unless we get a gung-ho female leader to accompany us, we can only take gentlemen. If you’d like to go, please contact Stac as soon as possible. The cost will be in the neighborhood of $70.
