Oh man, do I wish I had a picture of this.
We had a not-so-unique situation at our house today. Our washing machine has decided to take a couple of days off. Quite coincidentally, our darling children took this opportunity to deliver the stockpile of all the dirty clothing they’d been hoarding in the rooms for the past semester. Not all of our children, but enough of them to produce a small mountain of clothing.
My beautiful and crazy-smart wife dropped a decidedly unique solution on our kids.
While they were off being educated today she separated all their darks from their lights/whites into a plethora of laundry baskets. The baskets went into the van and accompanied her on her ride to pick the dear children up from their after-school endeavors. She stopped to buy them a pizza and picked up a roll of quarters before dropping them off…at the laundromat!
Annabelle and I stopped in to check on them on our way home from the girls basketball orientation meeting. They were doing just fine, hanging out at the laundromat! I gave them a few more dollars, just in case they ran out of quarters.
About 9pm my phone buzzed to tell me that they’d completed their task. All their clothing had been washed and folded, ready to be placed neatly on shelves, in drawers, or on hangers.
All in all, they had fun hanging together, doing laundry and being goofy together. And I hope that the laundry lesson gets learned this time!
