It makes sense, I suppose. Summer is the season for weddings. I’ve been asked to officiate a few weddings this summer, and have another coming shortly. Last summer I think I inked my name to a record 10 marriage licenses!
And it feels like everywhere I turn I’m running into someone celebrating their anniversary. We’ve got friends who are celebrating their first today, and another dear couple actually marked their 6th this past Sunday, the same day that Kim and I celebrated 23 years of marriage.
It’s been a wild ride, with way more surprises than I ever expected. I didn’t expect that I’d live in PA. We’ve been part of some really mind-blowing moves of God. I sure never dreamed that we’d have 7 children…we’ve created something wonderful here, and our lives have been changed in the process.
I have grown so much over the past 23 years, and most of it is directly related to my wonderful wife. And to think that it all started because her cousins were my friends at Toccoa Falls College.
In January of 1989 Kim decided to transfer to a new college to get her life back on track with Jesus. I’m pretty sure it was Ric who said, “Our cousin is transferring here. She’s awesome. You’ll love her.”
Turns out Ric was right. For the rest of my life! 23 years seems to have passed in the blink of an eye. I can hardly wait to see what the next 23 bring.
