We had good intentions about getting out of town for Labor Day, but they never really came together. Kim was able to put a good spin on things, though, and we ended up pulling a Guys Night Out/Girls Night In. Levi had to work, so I took Isaac to the Spikes game while Kim and the girls stayed home.
Have I told you how Isaac is a ball hawk? Honestly, the boy hasn’t been to Spikes game that he hasn’t come home with a baseball. Isaac was a doubles-hitter tonight: 2 baseballs, 2 tshirts, plus a frisbee. This kid is amazing! On the way home tonight I asked him what he was going to do with all those baseballs. He picked one up, flipping it into the air with a flick of his fingers, and said, “I don’t know. 8 baseballs…I can’t eat them. Maybe play with them…” He’s such a funny little guy.
When we got home there was a little bit of daylight left, so I thought I’d teach Isaac to shoot the bow. He liked it! He missed the target more times than he hit it, but he had fun, didn’t lose any arrows, and didn’t shoot the cat. We’ll try again tomorrow!
While I was hanging with Isaac, Kim and the girls were running around doing girly things. I’m not exactly sure what was involved, but they made milkshakes, rented a chick-flick and crashed in our bedroom to eat popcorn in my bed (not a fan, for the record.)
Normally I would be right in the middle of them. I loves me a a good rom-com. But Isaac and I decided to boost our testosterone and avoid the chick-flick. Have a regular testosterone level test to timely notice any symptoms of low T. We went to pick Levi up from work at 8:30. We got thrown a curveball when he poked his head out to tell us that he’d be getting off later than expected. So Isaac and I sat in the Chick-Fil-A parking lot and watched 2 episodes of “Good Luck Charlie” on my phone. Now that’s what I call living!
It’s back to school for all the kids tomorrow. It seems a little weird that they’re only a week into the school year and they’ve had their first vacation day. I think they’d want to let things settle down a little more into a rhythm before taking days off. But what do I know? I’ve never been a teacher…
