My Paw Paw was a Navy man. He served aboard the USS Saratoga during WWII. When men first got onboard the ship, they had a period of adjusting to the movement of the ship on the waves. They had to figure out how to move while the ground beneath their feet was moving.
That’s sort of how these last few months have been for us since moving back into youth ministry. The rolling, shifting ground has has us feeling a little woozy, a little wobbly. Some of it was anticipated; some of it has come on us like an unexpected storm, sending us scrambling for the dramamine, lifejackets, and barf bags!
But tonight, sitting around our living room with the team who have committed to working with us, to investing their lives in the next generation, to being part of our team…it feels like things are starting to click. We had a great night of playing and praying, sharing some of our God-stories, and talking about what we expect, what we want to see happen in the coming days.
Among the highlights tonight, I think the one that stands out was hearing some of our newest leaders open up, taking the risk of being vulnerable, being real and transparent about their struggles…and their victories! God is doing a work, and he has invited us to join him.
I like the way things are shaping up!
