One of my top strengths, at least according to George Gallup, is CONNECTEDNESS. George and his buddies would say that “People strong in the Connectedness theme have faith in the links between all things. They believe there are few coincidences and that almost every event has a reason.”
Case in point: Dan preached (oh so eloquently, btw) about us being a glorious mess (I love that mental picture.) He said that if we ignore the mess, we stand to miss the glory. But when we engage the mess, bring it to Jesus, allow him to redeem, we can move from the mess to glory. And those who have been forgiven much (redeemed) have a greater capacity to love. He was working through Luke 7:36-47, lest you think he was making stuff up. He tells wicked-awesome stories, but he doesn’t make things up when it comes to the Bible…
Yesterday I spent several hours reading Seth Barnes new book (which I scored for free last week from Amazon, along with 18,000 22,000 others–thanks Seth!) in which he explores the spiritual discipline of JOURNEY (not the band, though they were very, very talented.) He writes:
I teach those who go on kingdom journey the importance of pressing into pain. If you feel uncomfortable, the probably something good is happening. When we lose focus and run from pain, we miss our chance to grow.
I’d throw down a footnote, but I’m reading on the Kindle App, so I’m not sure what page. But how ’bout that for a couple of dots that need to be connected…
If you want to pick up the paperback, if you do so in the next 10 days, Seth and his team are throwing in about $80 worth of free bonus resources. Order here. You get a discount on the book plus $80 of bonus goodies. Don’t miss it…
Do you see it? Don’t ignore the mess. Don’t run from the pain. Dive in. Let God work, and experience the glory, the growth.
I have to ask: Are you running? I might be…but I don’t want to. I want to dig in, to explore the pain, to ask God what he wants to teach me.
Time to connect some dots and see if it doesn’t turn into a path, a directional arrow, revealing a next step in the journey…
