My previous post may be misleading. The primary reason for our visit to the sunny south actually has very little to do with the coming of Spring Training, the impending snow storm, or our house being taken over by the teenagers.
We’re going to celebrate Kim’s mom and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary!
We are absolutely blessed by the marriages on both sides of our family tree. We’ve been treated to a great example of love, partnership, and the hard work that comes with being married! Kim’s parents have modeled what it looks like to love God, love others, and make following Jesus a daily practice, not just a platitude or theory. Their generosity and graciousness have inspired us and set the bar high for us.
My life has been touched by Kim’s folks as much as if I were their biological son. They adopted me right off the bat and made me part of the family. I have been mentored, instructed, shaped and molded in some great ways over the years. There have been beautiful moments and seasons of grace, patience, and blessing. I am a better man because I’ve been loved well by Kim’s parents.
So we’ll suffer through a few days of sunny with a high of 75, take in some salt breezes, mark a milestone, and celebrate the legacy that Ken and Darla are leaving.
