I’m going to pretend that I’ve been blogging every day since Thanksgiving. I haven’t, of course, but I’m going to simply jump back in.
We were all set to kick off a new series with our middle school and high school students tonight. Oh yeah, I’m the youth pastor at Calvary, and we’ve combined middle school and high school students for this semester. As things sometimes go, Happy Valley got smacked in the mouth by the latest winter storm. I didn’t want to start a series if a good portion of the students would be absent.
So we called an audible.
There is a sweet sledding hill out at Harvest Fields. My lovely wife made us a 5-gallon cooler of hot chocolate, and we hit the slope. With a slight crust of ice on the surface of the snow, some of the sleds were zipping down the hill. Several of the sledders cruised all the way to the ponds at the bottom of the slope (no one hit the water!). Believe me, the ride down is waaay better than the walk back up!
Once the cold and wind and walking got the best of us, we gathered in the big room at Harvest Fields to warm up. Sadie suggested that we play a game of Mafia, which turned out to be a pretty fun way to end the evening.
I love it when a plan comes together!
