Earlier in the semester Team Sublett signed up to have an international student from Penn State come over to eat supper with us. Our church is pretty active with international students, and seeing as our family is literally 1/3 international students, we figured this would be a good fit.
Kim sent a welcoming email, which included our Team Sublett photo (thanks J&A Photography!) thinking that any reluctant Chinese student would jump at the chance to sit down to dinner with our fam.
Weeks passed with no reply, no jumping at the chance, no nothing. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. I mean, who wouldn’t want to hang out with us? We’re good people.
Then today we got the most apologetic email that I’ve ever seen. Kim and the young lady exchanged emails during the day, and when the dust settled we’ll be hosting a dinner for this student and 4 of her friends! What’s one five more mouths to feed? We’ll probably whip up some sort of buffet or smorgasbord (which Kim will pronounce sHmorgasbord–guaranteed).
So as you’re planning your day or your destiny, please be careful about what you wish for, cause it might just happen.
