No, not those guys.

Although I could begin with the Buccos breaking a 20 year losing streak. I might start with former PSU players we know and love making NFL rosters–or being released from them. I suppose I could lead off with a report of the State College Spikes first ever Pinckney Division crown and subsequent playoff appearance.  But I have something different in mind.

Over the past few days I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting with 28 people who are interested in learning more about our plans for Calvary’s youth ministry and how they might be involved.  That gets me excited!

Over the past week I’ve met with parents, students, and potential leaders, sharing our vision, values, and strategy.  I’ve spent hours talking about our history here at Calvary.  Some folks have heard my stories 3 times this week!

Team-based ministry wasn’t always a high priority for me.  There was once a day when I thought I had it all figured out, and that I was able to do it all by myself.  I considered myself a know-it-all, and I was ok with that.  Turns out that I didn’t know it all after all, and I was more of a jerkwad that a genius.

In our first run in youth ministry at Calvary we saw some great teams take shape.  Some of those men and women have gone into ministry, others are serving in leadership roles in their churches.  There were some real dandies on some of those teams.

As we move into season 2 of our youth ministry here, I am certain that God is bringing together just the right people for what he wants to accomplish.  Some of those folks have been in these meetings, but I’m pretty sure that there are others out there, just waiting to be asked, discovered, prodded, invited to join God where he is at work.

If you think you might be interested, let’s talk.  If you know someone you think would be a great fit for youth ministry, give me their name/# and I’ll give ’em a call.
