It’s pretty remarkable, no doubt about it.  I also have a 17 year old.  And a 16, 15 (in 2 weeks), 14, 13, and 12 year old.  Just typing that makes me laugh.

I got to tell part of our adoption journey (Charlie and Isaac’s stories) this past Sunday at church.  If you want to listen to the madness, and how I tied it in to our series through Joshua, click here.  The bottom line is that the Almighty makes mighty big promises, and he backs them up with his POWER.  So unlikely prayers are possible when we know what God has promised us.

My folks were up last weekend, which was great.  Some of Kim’s fam came to town yesterday to help us celebrate Charlie.  I didn’t get to see him dive into the cake (one of Sadie’s unique creations!) but I’m sure that it looked good on him!

He’s hit a stage where he’s expressing his preferences more than ever before.  He doesn’t like to be the center of attention, but he doesn’t mind being around the action.  If he has his cars, he’s pretty content to play on the floor by himself, lining up the cars time after time.  He’s been going to the Spikes games with me.  I kid you not–he spent about an hour running under the bleachers way out in right field last Saturday night.  He has no clue about what’s going on in the game, but he loves to swing a bat.  I can’t get him to catch a ball just yet, but we’re working on it.  He loves to go for a run with me.  Our great neighbors gave me a jogging stroller, and Charlie will climb right in and go along for the ride.

I’ll be 61 when he graduates from high school…sheesh.  I hope I can still keep up with him.
