Welp, we took 15 of us to the beach, and we brought 15 back.  Not too shabby.  We call came back tanned and relaxed and refreshed and all the things you’re supposed to be when you come home from a stay at the beach.  Including sunburnt/peely (ewww), a little sand in the shorts, a few scrapes from the bottom of the ocean (why is it like cement?) and wondering where I packed my ___________…

It took me a couple of days to get into vacation mode.  I’ve never really been very good at vacation.  Maybe I should get more practice!  We landed at a pretty non-commercial beach (translation: we’re going to the beach today…again!)  Once we got into a rhythm, things went pretty well.  We did manage to find a movie theater to see Man of Steel, so the kids we pretty stoked about that.

Sadly, there is no PAUSE button on life when a family leaves town.  We returned to a pile of mail, a yard that’s overgrown (fortunatelyit’smostlyclover!) and a few surprises.  I forgot to empty the coffee grounds from the morning we left.  Yuck.  The drain at the bottom of the stairs in the back yard didn’t.  Yuck2.  The dehumidifier didn’t get turned on in the basement.  Yuck3.  But all in all, things aren’t too shabby!

We had a 90th birthday party for Kim’s Gram Saturday.  Lots of people rolled into Bedford to celebrate.  It was good seeing lots of old friends friends from back in the day.  Gram looked great, too!

Sunday was a full day for me.  Church in the morning.  The first rehearsal for the SCCT play that I’m in this summer slid in right after church.  After that we had our first chapel with the State College Spikes, who happened to be playing the Pirates affiliate, so I got to see some familiar faces with the Jammers, too!  The night cap was a meeting to hear the report from a Youth Ministry consulting team that was here to help us sort out Calvary’s youth ministry.  They brought some great wisdom and I think we’re on the brink of something exciting!

All in all, we’ve had a great start to our summer, and we’re glad to be home.IMG_0984 IMG_0993 IMG_1070 IMG_1076 IMG_1077 IMG_1118 IMG_1163 IMG_1177 IMG_1180 IMG_1215 IMG_1170 IMG_1175
