That’s what the man who originally adopted Josie told us.  We had just flipped through a year’s worth of life as Team Sublett, giving Josie a pictorial tour of how we spend our time. It was the first weekend we met Josie, and I wanted her to know what kind of people we are.  Since we take pictures of just about everything we do, it made sense to show her our last year in pictures.

There were family trips to visit grandparents, vacation at the lake, amusement parks, concerts, loads of theater shows & musicals, church trips, birthdays, holidays…it’s pretty much how we live our lives.  Kim is a great creator of memories, and it shows in how our family lives.

The guy pulled me aside to tell me that Josie would be expecting us to do all that fun stuff with her.  It took me a minute to process what he was saying; I wasn’t sure if the guy thought we were trying to pull a fast one, faking our family fun factor so that Josie would want to come live with us…

I spent some time looking back through the photos from the past 12 months.  There’s a lot of fun and joy and creative memories captured on film digital memory.  Do you know what I don’t see much of?

My lovely wife.

She’s almost always taking the pictures, which means that she’s almost never in them.

We celebrated her birthday this past Sunday.  I was very tempted to sing to her from the stage at midtown.  She wouldn’t have liked that.  Her birthday got mixed in to Annabelle’s adoption celebration, Leadership Advance, and a high-falutin’ concert for Sadie with the State College Choral Society for MLK day.

Kim had to share her birthday with a lot of other things/people.  And you know, she doesn’t even care.  She’s like that–a giver.  She’d much rather be the one creating the celebration, cheering for one of her kids, throwing the party.  She’s not much on being the focus of attention.

Team Sublett would be lost without her.  She’s the glue, the heart and soul…and we love her like crazy!
