if you can call it that…Levi rolled into the Waffle Shop (yummy) right as I was leaving there this morning. He was dressed as Captain America. Yep, mask and shield, full effect. He and his classmates strolled in around 10:45.
I was on my way to claim Annabelle from her elementary school to take her to Sadie’s school for a “last day field trip.” I volunteered to chaperone this 5th grade jaunt to DelGrosso’s Amusement Park. We hit the park about 1pm and shoved as many rides as we could into 3 hours. We were scheduled to eat pizza at 4pm, which is when the thunderstorm rolled into the park. No worries, though, as just about everyone had gotten their fair share of the Crazy Mouse, X-Scream Tower, and Pharaoh’s Fury (I’d spell it Phury if it was my park). Sadie was a little sketchy about riding the big tower drop thing, but she rode it twice! Annabelle thought that once was enough for her liking. I used to be able to stomach any of the rides, but I steer clear of the tilt-a-whirl kind of side-spinny rides of late. My inner ear doesn’t like those rides, and my stomach tends to side with my inner ear. Anyway, the rain chased us out of the park about an hour before we’d planned, which was fine.
I got home to find about 30 middle school kids hanging in the living room. Lilly threw a “last day/going away” party for some friends who are moving now that school is out. It was mostly kids from the middle school drama club. The rain kept them in the house, except for the 3 on the trampoline! Kim gave me that look–you know that look? She had a pile of burgers and hotdogs prepped and waiting, but the rain…”will you? I mean, would you?”
So I grilled burgers and dogs in the rain for about an hour. It was actually pretty fun.
Lilly definitely has her mom’s party gene. She throws a mean one…
So school’s out for the summer. Team Sublett is going to soak up the sun, find some creative ways to make some memories, and live it up here in Happy Valley.
What are you going to do this summer?
