I don’t know if I ever thought about it quite that way before, but I think it’s true.  The life I live, the story I am writing with my life will be the legacy that I leave behind.  When my time on this terrestrial ball is over, my story will be my legacy.

Abraham’s life was marked by some incredible highs and abysmal lows.  He gets the highest marks for obeying God; he totally blew some of the simpler things (like admitting that his wife was actually his wife, not his sister…twice) along the way.  When noted church-planter and Jewish historian (he was a Pharisee, so he knew his history) Paul wrote about Abraham to the church in Rome, here’s what he penned:

Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.  He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.  And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous.  Rom 4:20-22

I don’t know what they’ll say at my funeral, but if it can be something along the lines of, “Stac never wavered in believing God’s promise.  In fact, his faith grew stronger…” I would count that as a win.  In order to make sure that my life ends up like that, it’s important to start with the end in mind.

I need to spend some time processing, digging in to what the Lord is teaching me, identifying/clarifying the most important things, making sure that my life is built on the things that matter most.  It’d be tragic to get to the end and realize that I’d been building a legacy that doesn’t mean anything…
