Just read this today and ran across the words: he looked around at them in anger.

So Jesus got angry.

I know that he was compassionate, tender, funny, cryptic, thoughtful, wise, obedient, radical, a lover of God and people…and angry.

I struggle with anger from time to time.

Hm…apparently, Jesus did, too. Jesus never sinned, though. I guess that’s the difference.

I’ve never cursed a fig tree and caused it’s death, either. That’s another difference…

Speaking of Anger…my mom and I were having this conversation this weekend, about anger and the bible, but we were focused around the Psalms of Lament. How often, those are psalms shoved under the rug, and we don’t acknowledege that it is ok to be angry, or even to be angry with God.

My mom found comfort in the Psalms, and said that she wished she would have known about them 4 years ago when my parents were divorcing.

It is refreshing to be reminded that anger is ok, as long as we don’t use it inappropriately.

Peace!

Thanks for your comment, cbq.

I am so thankful that God has given us his Spirit to guide us into all truth, and that his word can come alive to us as we dig into it. There’s so much that I miss on the first couple of go-arounds.
