She turned 15 over the weekend, which is pretty significant when I stop to think about it.  Less than 2 years ago she was living in China, no family to speak of, no future, no hope.  Now she’s surrounded by not just a family, but a TEAM who loves her, who pulls for her, who encourages her…

Kim is definitely the “fun parent” in this house.  She took Josie out of school Friday so that they could spend some time together.  They took Charlie and rolled down the highway to visit family and celebrate Josie.  I don’t begrudge her that; anyone who spent most of her life not being celebrated has more than a little catching up to do.  We topped off the night by hitting The Big Bowl Noodle House for a late supper before heading home.

Saturday was a crazy day.  There were multiple rehearsals, Sadie had a performance, I led worship at Calvary’s Table gathering, while Josie and Lilly went to the 8th grade dance.  I didn’t see them get all gussied up, and it’s probably a good thing I wasn’t there.  They looked so pretty I might not have allowed them to go to the dance!

Sadie’s show closed Sunday, and we marked the occasion with our first camp fire of the season.  I think it might have been the first time that Isaac had a s’more.  He only ate one, but I’m pretty sure he liked it.  I know that after all the birthday partying, show-watching, and running around from the weekend, I feel like I need a weekend to recover from the weekend!

But it’s a good kind of tired, and a very satisfied head will hit the pillow tonight.  I am so thankful, so blessed to be Josie’s dad, to be their dad.  I know that it’s only been a couple of years, but it feels like Josie’s always been part of our family.  She’s a keeper!
