Kim has been communicating with Ann (our new friend in China who has been getting our letters and gifts to Annabelle) a lot lately. In a recent email, Ann said that Annabelle/Mei Yun was told that a family in America had chosen to adopt her, but didn’t know much more than that. Understandably, she was happy, but more than a little anxious about her new life in a new country with a new family. Ann suggested that we write often and send lots of pictures to help ease Annabelle’s worries.
I can hardly imagine what Annabelle must be feeling right now. We’ve gotten as much info about her as is available, and have been praying and planning for her arrival for the past 4 years. I’m sure that she wants to be adopted, to have a family, to have a home…but it’s got to be somewhat intimidating to think of moving to a new country to live with strangers, and that those strangers are now your family.
We found out that she received our first care package last week. We sent Ann some pictures and a letter, and had her buy some small gifts for our daughter. She knows what we look like! Kim sent another letter this week, which Ann translated and will deliver this week.
We still don’t have travel dates, but we are close. Would you pray that our travel approval happens SOON, that Annabelle finds peace in her heart about her new life, and that the transition into this new and wonderful life is smooth? Thanks so much!
Here’s the letter, translated into Chinese. If you look closely, you can see our kids names in the middle of the Chinese characters!
